Humna began developing her Lit Canvas concept as part of her Textile Design thesis in 2000. Subsequent private commissions led to a further development of work, and in March 2003, she exhibited a collection at her Karachi (Pakistan) studio, bringing together the variety and body of techniques she had explored.
An exhibition of selected pieces followed at the Croweaters Gallery in Lahore, Pakistan, in November 2003. This was followed soon after with 'Mehendi', an exhibition of Henna Craft with lamps, home accessories and stationary craft decorated with pure Henna.
Shifting to Adelaide, Australia, led to a Jam Factory exhibition 'Lit Canvas' in July 2004. This was followed by varous exhibitions during the Adelaide Fringe and SALA festivals, as well as a group show, 'Echoes of Home: Memory and Mobility' at the Museum of Brisbane (May-August 2005) which subsequently went on an Australia-wide tour for 2 years.
Humna has also been a Site Artist at WOMADELAIDE '05 and '06.
