Butterfly Belly

I got a chance to paint a butterfly of a belly, last night. I usually avoid doing figures, but it was hard to say no to this client.

She was gifting the Henna experience to this young girl, who was her very close friend’s daughter. The friend had passed away, and she mentioned how she believes, that when a butterfly is seen by her, she sees her friend again. Hence, she wanted me to draw a butterfly, symbolizing that he’s around his daughter, making it a safe and amazing experience for his daughter, giving birth to another life. I felt extremely touched by the story, and drew on the girl what came, to me as a butterfly.

I too believe, people who have moved on to another level, come back to visit us as butterflies and so it was a pleasure narrating what I already believed in, in my art work on this girl. Love painting bellies, they make me feel as if I am part of the whole birthing ceremony! I hope they enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed painting it!
