Henna at a Disco Night Organised by Kumangka Aboriginal Youth Service

This is a picture of my first emu, done with Henna at the disco tonight !
The event is actually organized for Aboriginal young children, by Kumangka Aboriginal Youth Service – www.beanbag.com.au/kumangka/default.cfm
I am assuming, the organizers were expecting alot more kids, but unfortunately due to the cold weather not many showed up. I waited for a bit and then some kids started coming, got all excited about FREE HENNA and wanted one, but have no clue what it was and how to take care of it and so on. I guided them through the night how to take care of their Hennas, which ofcousre as always is interesting, lost of smudging happened, which was totally expected, fixed a few to keep them happy !
I was extremely lucky to have been given a chance to be at this party, where I met a very interesting elder aboriginal man, who not only drew an aboriginal symbol of Women sitting around a fire, he also told me about Totems and their significance in their culture. It was SO interesting, I came back home and googled to find out more – www.linsdomain.com/totems.htm
I have always felt, I was a snake in my past life and so while reading about it made me just feel so amazingly complete, knowing the powers I have within me – www.linsdomain.com/totems/pages/snake.htm
When I was going for this party, I really didnt know why I was going, and what to expect, but reaching there it felt extremely safe amongst these lovely people. I came back home, learning about a different culture, which actually is the culture of this land I call home today. Loved it and will hopefully will be doing Henna there again in a few weeks, woohoo !!!
