Gumeracha Medieval Fair

A few years ago, I was invited to Gumeracha Medieval Fair, but due to some commitments, I couldn’t be involved. so this year, thanks to my Twitter, someone mentioned about it and I was able to know the exact dates of when it was happening. The whole idea really fascinates me,and when we walked into the fair, it felt like we were walking into a stage play, in the olden times.
While walking through the fair, I felt this strange happiness within me seeing all these people dressed in medieval times clothes. I JUST couldn’t stop smiling … a queen with the glittering crown, a joker with bells on his pointy hats, shining Armour, swords and arrows … soooo much to see and absorb. I had thought it would be something for kids, but to my surprise, all age groups were dressed up in the costumes and gowns. There was a small story telling area, where these wonderful elderly women, were sitting on the thrown type of chairs, narrating stories to young kids. The exressions on their faces reminded me of the simple childhood I had while growing up in Pakistan.
The food was good too and was cooked like the old ways too as visible in the picture ! I was amazedat these people, for keeping the old traditions alive wth such enthusiasm. If you haven’t been to this fair yet, please make sure you do next year. I know I will be planning a dress for the next fair, I am thinking of getting a long silky puffed up dresses made, with big BIG hat. I am sure, my dream dress would give a heart attack to Mustafa, but surely he’ll love to go again, because it was so worth it !!!
Cant wait to attend it again. If you want, check our the websites about the fair – www.medievalsa.org See you there next year
