Henna Craft In Tasmania

I was recently selected to be part of the Deloraine Craft Fair, in a small town in Tasmania. It goes on for four days and the whole town comes to life with thousands of people around you along with such a huge variety of wonderful inspiring Australian Craft. I throughly enjoyed my time in the fair, working without any breaks (as always!) loving every single min of my time in the beautiful land of Nature.

I suggest if you can’t be part of the fair, do try and visit it once in your life to see the wide range of crafts this country has to offer…most fascinating and extremely creative.

As soon as I landed in Tasmania ( Launceston Airport) I felt slightly worried about where I was as time in that town seemed to have stopped ages ago and there seemed to be no belts for our luggage to come out on … there were large trolley trucks that were loaded by men and were just left in the open for the passengers to collect. It was night time and so the air was cold and we could smell the freshness of the greens that surrounded us although because it was so dark nothing was visible.

Drove to Three Willows Vineyard, run by a wonderful couple, Lynn and Phillip. Their space was relaxing, comforting and extremely pleasant. I seriously wished I was not going to the fair every day from there and could just sit around in the vineyard more … lavish Breakfast done by Philip, home made delicious Muesli, by Lyn, accompanied by lovely company of the birds all around us, was a delight every morning. The vineyard is known for it’s wines, which are made in a traditional way, and a must to try and I recommend my favorite one , ‘Genevieve’ Pinot Rose, named after Phil’s Mother. www.threewillowsvineyard.com.au

Driving down to Hobart was wonderful and visiting the Salamanca markets was just an experience I can not put in words. I loved it so much there … so alive and happening lovely environment and amazing craft … fascinating creativity all around the city!!

My experiences in Tasmania were adventurous and very rewarding. I fell in love with the Island and hope that I get a chance to go back to see my new friends, One Day !

I was one of the lucky people that you ‘painted’ on,at the last minute of the last day in Deloraine. It’ was such a delight meeting you at the fair and hearing about your job(I’m the girl who told you how great it must be to just paint all day, sorry about that) I have some photos of us, I am not very computer litterate so will try and work out how to post them and give it a go.
